“Filmmaking is all about appreciating the talents of the people you surround yourself with, and knowing you could never have made any of these films by yourself.”
-Steven Spielberg
For these GLA students, filmmaking was part and parcel of their experience overseas during the summer of 2015. They were not only immersed in new places and cultures – they brought them back for others to see.
It is in this light that we’re thrilled to announce Beate Kaz as our 2015 GLA Video Contest Winner.
Check out her video, filmed during her time on GLA’s Guatemala program in July 2015, below:
On her contest win, Beate is as gracious as ever, highlighting how sharing the experience means more to her than anything else:
I am very excited about winning, and even happier that I got the opportunity to share my trip with others. Every GLA program I do is always the highlight of my summer, and including others in my experiences makes it 10x better.”
-Beate Kaz
GLA’s video contest panel selected Beate’s video for its grasp of the GLA Guatemala story, and for providing a keen insight into what it’s like to step into this world that is both familiar and unique. Congrats, Beate, on your big win!
Shari Coleman, Honorable Mention
Shari’s video was selected as our 2015 Honorable Mention for its beautiful cinematography and storytelling style, as experienced on GLA’s India: Service in the Himalayas program.
