BLOG POST FOR NOVEMBER 17

Day 1 has been amazing! Despite the long flight and jet lag the boys embraced their new environment. After we got to the home base they learned a bit of the culture and some unique things about the Odumase Krobo area. In the afternoon then got time to settle in and get their bearings, take showers and adjust to the climate. They met children in the community who came over to welcome them and they played some football in the compound. As evening approached we walked through the neighborhood so they could get oriented to their surroundings, greet people and take in the shops and goats and homes and friendly faces. After dinner we discussed a few ground rules and sent them off to bed!

They have reflected on how open and warm the children are, how similar and different life is like and are absorbing and observing everything. They’ve maintained a positive attitude. It’s been a great start to this life-changing experience!
