Today was our first day of service. We went to a local community called Las Palmas de La Comunidad and split into 3 groups to work on different projects. One group worked on a school, preparing the land for concrete. The second group worked on preparing land to build a community center. Finally, the third group dug trenches to build a fence made of old tires. They also painted and cut the tires into lady bugs and turtles. Once we got back from service, we went to a nearby park and watched a group of high school students perform traditional dances. Then, we got to try on the outfits and learn some of the steps to the dances.

Today was our third day of service! We started off playing with the kids. We played ‘Duck, duck, goose’ and tag. We also got to work on our Spanish with the kids throughout the day. Later, we went to mix cement for the community center. We sang a lot of High School Musical while shoveling cement. After that we painted tires for the park. After service we went to a craft place and made things out of clay. We also went snorkeling and saw an octopus and pufferfish. After snorkeling, we went to a small beach and played in the water.
