DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – Beachside Service Adventure – August 8 – August 17, 2017

Date: August 9th

Today we hiked Brison. It was very challenging for most of us, but we made it to the top. Children younger than us have to do this hike every day to get back and forth to school. Making it to the top was hard, but the view was amazing.

Today students went to the Cano Dulce community to help build a house for a local family. Activities included lugging bags of cement across the community, mixing cement and spreading the cement onto the floor. Lots of sweat, laughter, and smiles were on hand today. After a lot of hard work, we enjoyed some well-earned beach time.

Today was our last day working on the bottle house at Caño Dulce. The family that will be living in the house helped out and were really happy with the outcome. We finished cementing and painting the house and delivered bunk beds to the family. At lunch, we all celebrated with a cake for the completion of the project.
